Fees and Payment
PAYMENTS & INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT: Clients are expected to pay the standard fee of $104.00 per 50 minute session or $156 per 80 minute session at the end of each session unless other arrangements have been made. A 4% discount , amounting to $100 and $150 respectively, is given for payment by check, cash or ACH bank debit.
Lauren is available on weekdays during the lunch hour at 1320 19th Street, NW.
Payment is preferred in the form of check and cash. Payment is also accepted by the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. We do not take insurance and do not participate in insurance networks. However, because Ms Swank is supervised by a licensed therapist, her professional services may qualify for patient reimbursement under most insurance plans. Coverage varies widely from policy to policy, so you may want to review your benefits to determine your expected reimbursement. You are responsible for making a payment at the time of service. Upon request, your therapist will provide you with an invoice to submit to your insurance network.
Typical reimbursement is 30-60% of the “allowed” fee, once your deductible is met.
The procedure code used for couples that is generally reimbursable is called “conjoint psychotherapy.” This procedure code is 908.47. Use this language when inquiring with your insurance about reimbursement for couples counseling.
Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of times specifically for you, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for re-scheduling or canceling an appointment. Unless we reach a different agreement, the full fee will be charged for sessions missed without such notification. Most insurance companies do not reimburse for missed sessions.
In inclimate weather the cancellation policy is in effect unless the federal government is closed.
