COUPLEHOOD AS A SPIRITUAL PATH
Marriage can be one of the most accessible ways of experiencing God’s love, but it dosen't always feel that way. Christians enter into a relationship hoping to find the kind of love described in I Corinthians: “Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy. It keeps no record of wrongs….”
But no matter how hard you try, it’s not always easy to “will” yourself to love your partner unconditionally. Achieving and sustaining this kind of love with your partner requires an investment of time and energy, and a willingness to transcend our usual patterns.
Couplehood as a Spiritual Path is an 8-week course for couples that takes an inside-out look at the psychological and spiritual workings of intimate relationships from a Christian perspective. Using the Imago approach, you’ll be introduced to a powerful skill that can radically transform the way you communicate and is an example of how to demonstrate God's love in difficult marriage situations.
This interactive course explores:
- The stages of intimate relationships
- How our negative childhood experiences are recreated (and can be healed) in long-term relationships
- A way of communicating that is a profound example of “loving your neighbor”
- How to develop and maintain empathy and compassion for one another
- The idea of “sacred space” in your relationship
- Being created whole in the image of God
