Couples Counseling
Looking for a couples counselor? There are a few things you may want to know that may guide you in your search for the counselor/therapist that is best for you.

Consider, for example, that relationship and/or marriage counseling is widely considered the most technically difficult form of counseling to provide. I have the specialized post-graduate training and high-volume experience with couples for you to be confident that I can sensitively work with you to help you and your relationship.

I am a member of the National Registry of Marriage Friendly Therapists. registry_of_marriage_friendly_therapists.gif You will find some interesting articles on their website about the potential hazards of putting your relationship in the hands of a therapist who isn't specifically trained or experienced with the complexity of relationship therapy (this also applies to doing individual psychotherapy when you are in a relationship). Because relationship therapy is the most "in-demand" form of psychotherapy, there is significant financial motivation for most therapists to tell you they work with couples. It is important to ask specific questions about your therapist's training, volume of couples in the practice, philosophy, and even outcomes.
